Nigerian Women Against Violence Initiative

Activity: To train women to acquire skills, to train women against violence, to design the website or blog for the association, to create the Facebook page for the association, to write projects, to help looking for grants, to assist poor women victims of violence (if you are a lawyer), to treat women victims of violence (if you come from the health system).
Time: For the skill acquisition sessions Saturdays 9am-4pm are preferred.
Comments: It is a group of women with branches in other parts of Nigeria. They are in Abuja since March 2010. They organize trainings for women, talks on violence against women and children, and activities to fight poverty. As future (desired) projects they want to give soft loans to women, to create a telephone number for women victims of violence and to build a centre to protect these women.

The Likeminds Project

Activity: To mentor youth, to help in advocacy activities, to collaborate in fundraising activities, to help in schools with special needs, to do activities in the orphanages, to collaborate in sensitization on social issues.
Comments: It is a group of friends that meet regularly, organize activities, and donate to contribute to community development in Abuja.
